We first met Chontel Duncan when she had just opened the first HIIT Australia gym at Capalaba in Brisbane. Not only was a sleek looking gym, we were in awe of firstly how tall Chontel was (this is one of the most asked questions) and also how amazingly fit and strong Chontel was as well. We were keen to see just what the motivation was to open the first HIIT gym in Brisbane.
1. You were one of the first to offer HIIT in a dedicated facility, how did you personally discover HIIT training?
I was extremely athletic as a child, with track and field being one of my favourite. All throughout my schooling I had never lost a 100m or 200m race, long jump or high jump for my year. This explosive, fast pace style of exercise my coach would explain to me was called HIIT. High Intensity Interval Training. I was attracted to any sports that was HIIT based, so after completing my qualifications to become a Fitness Professional I knew exactly what I wanted to call my gym & base my services around. This was back in 2011/2012.
2. What is your favourite HIIT routine and why?
My favourite would have to be Muay Thai Kick Boxing, purely because it's extremely challenging, interactive & makes you feel incredible.
3. What is the one question you get asked ALL the time?
How tall are you LOL. So to answer that I'm 186cm
4. What advice would you give yourself if you could turn back time 10-15 years?
I wouldn't change a thing, I love every experience the good & the not so good, because it has taught me everything I know today and made me stronger, smarter and wiser.
5. What is your favourite clean treat
Protein pancakes topped with Protein Mousse
We love that Chontel is honest and has a supportive team who help all their challengers achieve their goals. Not only is the Capalaba gym still the home office and getting bigger and bigger each month, there are now two additional gyms in the family. One at Geebung in Brisbane and the other at Burleigh down the Gold Coast. HIIT use only safe training techniques and advocate a healthy and balance diet – with no “crash” and unsafe diet changes. They promote a fun and comfortable community environment. They are REAL trainers, with REAL results.
HIIT is for all ages and fitness levels and if you have ever wanted to give it a go, the next round of transformation challenges starts in a few weeks. Contact http://www.hiitaustralia.com.au/about-us/ for more details.
Chontel wears NUX Galaxy Legging and NUX Network Bra in black, the perfect HIIT combo.
